Is this safe extension cord use?

Ok so I live in a dorm and have a lofted bed. I use an extension cord to put my alarm clock on my bed which is high up because I can’t turn it off if i have to get down from my bed and I don’t want to bother my roommates. I sometimes plug my phone charger in the
Same extension cord ad it gets really hot! I took it out though. I notice my alarm clock gets a little warm too. Is this safe if the alarm clock is sitting on my bed with an extension cord? I can try getting batteries for it.

Neither of those devices draw a lot of energy its fine. Avoid putting connections on top of blankets if there’s a spark or surge that could be bad. Also cords can strangle you in your sleep that has happened a lot lol

If the extension cord is getting HOT, that means that the extension if not rated for what you are plugging into it. Get a heavier duty extension cord or better yet a multi outlet surge protector, with a longer cord to reach. The beefier extension cord will be cheaper.

I have seen a few extension cord get so hot they melt the plastic insulation and short out. So a HOT extension cord is NOT normal.
